About the pool
The Scarborough Beach Pool is a heated outdoor pool on the beachfront, one of the few heated public pools on Perth's Sunset Coast. It's ideal when the ocean is rough, for lap swimming with a view, for children learning to swim, and for cooling off after a day on the sand. Nearby are Sunset Hill, the skate park, playground and cafés.

History of the pool
The pool was promised to the community as partial compensation for the 1999 decision to close and redevelop Scarborough Senior High School. After about a year of construction on the old Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club building site, the pool opened on 22 January 2018, funded by the City of Stirling and the Government of Western Australia. The City of Stirling covers ongoing maintenance. Public submissions asked for natural seawater like Sydney's ocean baths, but the council chose a salt-chlorinated system.
Tips
- Arrive early on hot summer days — the pool gets busy.
- Bring sunscreen, a hat and water; shade is limited.
- Combine a swim with sunset on Sunset Hill and dinner on The Esplanade.
